- Lot Description
Circa, 600/800 A.D., hollow terracotta figure with dark red-brown slip, seated with bent, splayed legs and arms resting on the knees. The expressive face with prominent lips, pierced ears, and a small bowl-like element atop the head. The back slightly hunched, marked by a prominent hump. Ht. 12 ¾, 6 ½ in. at shoulders. Provenance: Private collection, Phoenix, AZ; Sotheby's, New York.
