Vintage Mexican folk art nagual (from Nahuatl word nahualli meaning "shaman in disguise") dance mask with animal horns, leather ears, and horse hair fibers, circa early to mid-20th century
height 16 in. x width 14 in. x depth 5 in.
Provenance: The Estate collection of late teacher and humanitarian Douglas Rhodenbaugh, from his historic downtown Austin, Texas home. Mr. Rhodenbaugh spent decades traveling throughout Latin America assuming his vast collection of folk and fine arts, often buying pieces directly from the artisans he met on his travels.
