Vintage Mexican (Guerrero) folk art Danza de la Tigre (dance of the tiger/jaguar) mask, hand-painted and lacquered soft wood with mirrored eyes, boar hair bristles and teeth, strung for hanging, circa mid-to-late 20th century
height 12 in. x width 8.5 in. x depth 6.5 in.
Provenance: The Estate collection of late teacher and humanitarian Douglas Rhodenbaugh, from his historic downtown Austin, Texas home. Mr. Rhodenbaugh spent decades traveling throughout Latin America assuming his vast collection of folk and fine arts, often buying pieces directly from the artisans he met on his travels.
