Gems, Jewels and Precious Objects Spanning Centuries and Continents Come to Rago's Final Fine Jewelry Auction of the Year on December 8

Lambertville, NJ - Rago Auctions presents its final jewelry auction of 2019 on Sunday, December 8. A NYC preview will be held at Omni Berkshire Place, 21 E 52nd St, New York, NY on November 19 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. In-house previews at Rago in Lambertville, NJ will begin on December 1.

Lot 426, a 17.35 cts. fancy light brownish yellow diamond and sapphire ring by Oscar Heyman Brothers; Estimate $220,000-$280,000

This auction introduces Rago's newest member; Director of Fine Jewelry, Dianne Batista. Dianne comes to Rago with over 30 years of industry experience, most recently as a jewelry consultant to several businesses including David Webb. She has also held positions as Assistant Vice President, Senior Jewelry Specialist at Christie’s New York, manager for Dior Fine Jewelry, and Cinta Jewelry Director for jeweler John Hardy. She was an original jewelry expert on PBS's Antiques Roadshow and has lectured extensively on antique and estate jewelry.

Fine Jewelry: Sunday, December 8 at 11AM, 479 lots

The December Fine Jewelry auction presents a diverse offering of gems and jewels from Georgian to Contemporary, including pieces from the fine jewelry houses of Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels, and Tiffany as well as lesser known but important 20th century Newark jewelers like Krementz and Alling & Company.

Lot 458, Van Cleef & Arpels Diamond Brooch; Estimate $90,000-$100,000

Highlights include lot 426, a 17.35 cts. fancy light brownish yellow diamond and sapphire ring by Oscar Heyman Brothers; lots 473 and 458, a diamond bracelet and a diamond brooch by Van Cleef & Arpels; and lots 307 through 316, presenting a special collection of antique Russian jewelry. For the collector of 19th century jewelry, lot 146, a Japonesque necklace by Tiffany & Co leads the way. Holiday gifts include lot 57, a 14k yellow gold monkey letter opener and lot 11, an enamel and gold box in the form of a book. For men, the auction includes lot 314, a pair of Russian sapphire, diamond, and enamel cufflinks, and a broad selection of wristwatches by Patek Phillipe, Vintage Rolex, Corum, and Piaget.
