The 2020 Verge Art Auction Spotlights Emerging And Established Artists

Nov 02,2020 | 10:30 EST By Verge Center for the Arts

Sacramento, CA – Verge Center for the Arts presents the 2020 Verge Art Auction, a three-week, virtual auction showcasing emerging and established artists. Featuring over 120 works by regional artists and makers, the Verge Art Auction will run online via Bidsquare from October 26 through November 21, 2021.

Past auctions have typically been one-day, in-person events held on site at Verge Center for the Arts. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Verge Art Auction will be entirely virtual – a pivot that will allow bidders to view and purchase art from the comfort of their homes, while still raising funds for Verge’s mission-driven work.

“Verge's Art Auction has never been more vital to the region's art community. By supporting this year's virtual event, supporters are enabling Verge to further its mission to provide arts resources to the Sacramento creative community as well as educational programs to youth and adults.'” — Liv Moe, Executive Director, Verge Center for the Arts

“Emerging and established artists in the region have responded enthusiastically and created a lot of new work for this one-of-a-kind auction. [...] Auction proceeds will help fund our educational programs and –new this year—we will donate 10% of each sale to the Black Artists Fund. Plus, a portion of the sale of AYP residency alum will also go back to the Ali Youssefi Project.” – Gwenna Howard, Verge Art Auction Committee Co-Chair

The purpose of the Ali Youssefi Project (AYP) Artist in Residency program is to give meaningful support to artists and creatives. The project aims to nurture artists from a diverse range of backgrounds and uplift the work of artists, with a particular focus on underrepresented perspectives and voices.
