.22 LR caliber, 31 5/8" #4 weight heavy octagonal barrel, S/N 3337 on frame and buttplate. The top flat of the barrel is marked H.M. Pope . The underside of the barrel, beneath the forearm, is marked 717 / AG / LR / 15.9 / 6.14.28 and H.M. Pope . This indicates that the rifle was made by H.M. Pope in Jersey City in 1928 . Stevens forearm with deluxe checkering and a pope palm rest mounted onto it. The action is fitted with a four finger Pope lever, and double set triggers. The barrel is fitted with a J.W. Fecker scope (S/N 4626 ) and mounts. The No. 6 buttstock features deluxe checkering, a raised cheekpiece and a nickel plated Schuetzen buttplate.
The barrel retains nearly all of its original blue finish. The frame has a dark blueish gray patina, with some small lighter streaks of grey. The forearm is in excellent condition, as is the buttstock, with he exception of a slight age crack where it meets the frame. The bore and mechanics are excellent. The scope has very good optics.
