.40-63 everlasting caliber, 30" round-to-octagonal barrel, S/N 3002 . With matching numbers throughout. The frame is unengraved, and features the Marlin name and address and Ballard patent date. Windgauge front sight and mid range Vernier tang peep sight. Deluxe grain checkered forend with tapered horn forend cap. Deluxe grain checkered pistol grip stock with horn wedge insert, a high comb and raised cheekpiece. With nickel plated Swiss style buttplate. This rifle is unusual because it has a non engraved frame and a round/octagonal barrel without Rigby flats. It was either a special order, or a case of the factory using spare parts.
The barrel retains almost all of the original blue finish, with some light areas of fading. The frame has a mostly flat gray patina, with some light areas of darker splotches. The forearm has a minuscule age crack on the left side where it meets the frame, and the butt has some tiny age cracks on either side behind the tang sight. All else is in excellent condition. The bore and the action are excellent.
