.32 R.F. caliber, 28" octagonal barrel, S/N 18755 . With matching numbers throughout. The top flat of the barrel is marked No. 32 and with the serial at the breech. The left side of the frame is marked with the Merrimack company name and address and Ballard's patent surrounded by scroll engravings. The Nimschke engraved frame features a blank scroll on either side, surrounded ornate scroll engravings. The top flat of the frame features crossed ribbon bands in a figure eight formation. Either side of the frame features an N behind the lever screw. An example of an identical Nimschke engraving for Merrimack rifles can be found on pages 12 and 13 of R.L. Wilson's book L.D. Nimschke: Firearms Engraver. With a blade front sight and a sliding peep tang sight. The rosewood forearm features an engraved forend cap with a sunburst engraving. The rosewood buttstock also features an engraved crescent buttplate.
The barrel retains nearly all of its original blue finish, with some very minor scuffs to the right flat. The frame has a solid gray patina, with some small areas of spotting towards the rear. The rosewood has one or two nicks/dings, and is in wonderful condition.The bore and mechanics are excellent.
