12mo, viii, 112. Engraved frontispiece "The Day of Our Freedom August 1st 1834" by J. Crosland. Original dark green cloth. FIRST EDITION.
A scarce work issued to celebrate the abolition of slavery in British colonies with the Slavery Abolition Act passed in 1833 and going into effect on 1 August 1834. Featuring a superb engraved frontispiece, the book includes original compositions on abolitionist William Wilberforce and a composition voicing the exultation of liberated slaves.
