- Lot Description
Disney 1970s Treasure Craft Country Bear Jamboree Big Al Glazed Ceramic Cookie Jar. The pristine shape has a simple, classic design with excellent glaze. The figure is holding his custom guitar while sitting on a barrel with his trusty moonshine jug at his side. Divided across the chest for access to the cookies. Marked "Disney" on the bottom back edge with a copyright symbol.
Size: 8 x 6 x 12 in.
Treasure Craft was a pottery manufacturer founded by Alfred Levin in 1946 in Compton, California. At first producing Southwestern-style kitchenware, they became highly renowned after the 1958 acquisition of a Hawaiian manufacturing plant, expanding to include whimsical Tiki-themed figures and souvenirs. Operating until the mid-1990s when Levin passed away, the company continually produced a diverse array of uniquely glazed works, sometimes under licensing to major brands like Walt Disney Productions and Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates, and their pieces are more and more highly sought by collectors of Americana, themed novelty items, and Mid Century kitsch.
