Leg ornament, with woven fiber band, shells and shell bells.
Includes original tag labeled "#52 Kaup, men & women but at different times". According to Louis Pierre Ledoux's manuscript (lot 108, Manuscript Chapter 3, page, 122 last paragraph) while describing a particular burial ceremony he experienced in Kaup during the first few weeks of his stay there, "Shell bells are tied to the leg of the women".
