- Lot Description
A Chumash polychrome coiled basket bowl from California’s central coast. The Chumash inhabited the coastal valleys and Channel Islands from present-day Malibu north to San Luis Obispo, where basketry was central to daily life, serving for gathering, food preparation, storage, trade, and ceremonial use. Woven of native plant fibers with contrasting natural and dyed materials, this bowl displays radiating geometric motifs extending from the center to a patterned rim band.
Dimensions: 13.75 x 13.75 x 6 in., high.
Shipping: Free Sacramento pickup. Shipping via FedEx within the continental U.S. for $75 plus 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing).
Condition
Very good overall condition with light, expected wear from age and use. No significant losses or structural issues observed.
