- Lot Description
Two baskets representing the basketry traditions of the Washoe and Mono Lake Paiute peoples of the Great Basin. The Washoe basket was woven by the Indigenous people of the Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley region of present-day California and Nevada, whose basketry is recognized for its refined coiled construction and bold geometric ornament. The accompanying Mono Lake Paiute polychrome basket originates from the eastern Sierra Nevada around Mono Lake in California, where skilled weavers created both utilitarian and ceremonial baskets from willow, sedge root, and naturally dyed plant fibers. Together, these baskets illustrate the closely related yet distinctive weaving traditions of neighboring Great Basin tribes.
Dimensions: Washoe: 12.5 x 12.5 x 6.5 in., high. Mono Lake Paiute: 9 x 9 x 5 in., high.
Shipping: Free Sacramento pickup. Shipping via FedEx within the continental U.S. for $75 plus 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing).

Overall good condition with light, expected wear from age and use. Minor scattered wear consistent with age.
