Marco Olivier is a South African sculptor based in Cape Town and the owner of a bronze foundry where he produces original works in bronze and resin. His sculptures are recognized for their distinctive textures and painted surface effects, and range from small-scale works to large public installations.
Olivier creates his bronze sculptures using the traditional lost-wax casting process. His larger installations are often fabricated in fibreglass and stainless steel–reinforced synthetic resin, a method that allows for structural durability in both indoor and outdoor settings. This approach enables his work to function across a range of environments, including public spaces, architectural projects, and private collections.
He has installed numerous public artworks throughout South Africa, many of which were produced at his own expense as a way to promote and expand his practice. Notable installations include a 3-meter bronze sculpture and a 4-meter face sculpture in Cape Town, as well as a 6-meter commissioned face sculpture created for a private company.
In 2022, Olivier was selected to represent South Africa at the German Art Symposium Competition, though he was unable to attend due to prior commitments. His work has since expanded internationally and has been shown in boutique galleries along the Italian Amalfi Coast, as well as in Belgium and Mauritius. International designer and curator Roche Bobois has approached Olivier to be included as a sculptor within their international portfolio.
Alongside public art installations, Olivier produces limited-edition sculptures and offers commissioned works, including portrait sculptures, architectural elements, and functional art. He also works with architects and property developers on structural and site-specific projects. Olivier operates his practice as part of a family-run business based in Cape Town.
