- Lot Description
A great lakes yarn woven pouch with drawstring top, field collected March 1925, retains period tag, Great Lakes Drawstring pouch executed in wool yarns of red, navy, yellow, red and turquoise, forming diagonal and zigzag patterns. The top features a black cloth lining, and the ends finished with braided yarn tassels. Retains the original paper field tag marked "Received 3/26/1925," with a price tag of 75 cents. Minor wear consistent with age. Lg. with tassels 14 in. Menomonee wool flannel leggings with hand stitched silk applique adornment, retains period tag, collected April 1925. A Pair of dark wool flannel leggings with hand-stitched silk appliqué panels in pink and purple, bordered in green and black trade cloth. Retains the original paper collection tag noting "Received April 1925." Light handling consistent with age. Ht.15 ½, wd. 22 in. Two Menomonee women's sewing pouches, wool with trade cloth adornments, period collection tags attached. Soft navy wool pouch with rounded flap, hand-sewn with yellow wool thread along the edge. Minor wear and light fading consistent with age and handling. 9 in. open, 3 ½ in. closed. Fold-out sewing pouch constructed of dark wool cloth with light blue gingham edging. The interior features multiple flaps and pockets lined with colorful felt pieces. Red floral applique adornments on the inside. 22 ¾ open, 6 ¼ closed, wd. 6 ½ in. Menomonee bead decorated loin cloth on wool red stroud cloth. Red stroud wool loincloth with glass bead decoration. The central panel features twin floral vine motifs executed in white, blue, green, and navy beads on the red cloth ground, framed with black edge binding. The reverse is backed with trade cloth in a patterned calico and finished with orange and red wool stripes. 51 in. Two sets of Menomonee silk ornaments. Silk applique, one is just on a white cotton foundation, the other is on printed calico cotton foundation. Retain period tags. Given as gifts.
