A pair of finely woven California Mission basket ollas comprising a pictorial olla with tuck-stitched rim, decorated with stylized figural motifs, together with a second Mission olla featuring repeating oval and geometric designs woven in dark-dyed willow against a natural ground with a finely finished rolled rim. Dating to the late nineteenth or early twentieth century, these baskets are representative examples of Southern California Mission basketry.
Dimensions: Larger olla: 10 in. diameter x 10.25 in. high. Smaller olla: approximately 7 in. diameter x 5.5 in. high.
Shipping: Free Sacramento pickup. Shipping via FedEx within the continental U.S. for $80 plus 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing).
Both baskets are in very good overall condition with expected light wear consistent with age. The larger basket retains its original tuck-stitched rim. The smaller basket displays minor surface wear and remains well preserved.
Property from a Palm Springs, California estate, now being deaccessioned by the heirs.
