On May 16, 2026, Florida-based auction house Lion and Unicorn will present the 372-lot Retro Pop Toy Chest auction, a vibrant sale packed with collectible LEGO sets, comic book sculptures, and pop culture memorabilia spanning decades of fandom. From Marvel and DC Comics to Star Wars, Star Trek, and Disney, the catalog blends nostalgia with serious collector appeal, offering everything from large-scale LEGO architecture builds to limited-edition superhero display pieces.

For collectors who grew up building LEGO cities on the living room floor, debating Marvel heroes with friends, or watching endless reruns of Star Trek and Star Wars, this auction feels less like a traditional sale and more like a time capsule. At the center of the event is an expansive selection of LEGO sets spanning Creator, Architecture, Ideas, Star Wars, and Super Heroes themes. These aren’t simply toys, they’re highly collectible design objects that appeal equally to builders, display collectors, and pop culture enthusiasts.

Alongside the LEGO offerings is a strong lineup of Marvel and DC collectibles, including several standout Bowen Designs and Dynamic Forces pieces that embody the dramatic artistry of comic books in sculptural form.

Marvel Comics Wolverine Full-Size Head Bust with Box (Lot 1)

One of the first standout pieces in the sale is the Marvel Comics Wolverine Full-Size Head Bust with Box. Produced by Dynamic Forces in 2004 and based on artwork by legendary comic artist Alex Ross, the bust captures Wolverine in an intense snarling pose that immediately commands attention. The classic yellow-and-black mask, exposed teeth, and hand-painted detailing give the piece a cinematic quality that feels larger than life.

Limited-edition Marvel collectibles from the early 2000s have become increasingly sought-after, especially examples that retain their original packaging. This particular bust is hand-numbered 133 of 700, making it especially appealing to collectors focused on rarity and condition.

Estimate: $400 - $700

Bowen Designs Mighty Thor Deluxe Painted Statue (Lot 2)

Another highlight is the Bowen Designs Mighty Thor Deluxe Painted Statue. Randy Bowen’s sculptures have long been favorites among comic collectors because they bring the energy of comic book illustration into three-dimensional form. This deluxe edition depicts Thor in a classic heroic pose, standing atop a rocky base with Mjolnir raised overhead.

The figure’s dramatic red cape, detailed armor, and interchangeable “Change-O Head” accessory make it an especially dynamic display piece. Hand-numbered 88 of 2500, the statue reflects the era when high-quality comic sculptures became centerpiece collectibles for Marvel fans.

Estimate: $250 - $450

Kevin Francis Ceramics Star Trek Captain James T. Kirk Toby Jug (Lot 4)

The auction also includes standout science fiction memorabilia, including the Kevin Francis Ceramics Star Trek Captain James T. Kirk Figural Toby Jug. Handmade and hand-painted in Stoke-on-Trent, England, the piece cleverly merges traditional Toby jug craftsmanship with one of television’s most iconic captains.

Captain Kirk is shown seated thoughtfully in the USS Enterprise command chair, while the handle is modeled as a Starfleet shuttlecraft. Signed by modeler Andy Moss and limited to just 750 examples, the collectible bridges the worlds of decorative arts and science fiction fandom in a way that feels both nostalgic and unique.

Estimate: $200 - $400

Dynamic Forces Incredible Hulk Master Proof Edition Bust (Lot 28)

Marvel collectors will also want to keep an eye on the Dynamic Forces Incredible Hulk Master Proof Edition Bust. Based on Alex Ross artwork, the large-scale bust presents the Hulk with a fierce expression, complete with translucent green eyes, exaggerated musculature, and highly detailed sculpted textures.

What sets this piece apart is its rarity. The bust is identified as a Master Proof edition and hand-numbered 30 of only 50 produced, making it one of the rarer superhero collectibles in the auction. Combined with its imposing size and dramatic presentation, it’s the kind of piece designed to dominate a display shelf.

Estimate: $800 - $1,200

Dynamic Forces The Invincible Iron Man Full-Size Head Bust (Lot 31)

Another notable Marvel lot is the Dynamic Forces The Invincible Iron Man Full-Size Head Bust. Released in 2004 and sculpted by Edward Endres, the piece features a striking vacuum-metalized red and gold chrome finish that immediately evokes the sleek futuristic aesthetic associated with Iron Man.

Mounted on a black tiered base and accompanied by its original retail box, the bust blends comic book nostalgia with polished modern design. The reflective chrome finish gives it a particularly bold visual presence, making it one of the most eye-catching superhero pieces in the sale.

Estimate: $300 - $500

What makes the Retro Pop Toy Chest auction especially compelling is the way it reflects the evolution of collecting itself. LEGO sets once built by kids are now carefully preserved investment pieces. Comic book statues once displayed in game rooms are increasingly viewed as sculptural art objects. Pop culture memorabilia has matured into a serious collecting category, driven by fans who want physical connections to the franchises and characters that shaped their childhoods.

Whether bidders are searching for rare LEGO architecture builds, superhero collectibles, or franchise memorabilia tied to beloved films and television series, this auction offers something deeply familiar and emotionally resonant. More than just collectibles, these objects tell stories about fandom, creativity, and the enduring power of pop culture to connect generations.
