About Shelley Duvall
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Duvall was discovered at a Houston party by director Robert Altman, who cast her in Brewster McCloud (1970). Her expressive eyes, unique presence, and fearless approach to unconventional roles quickly made her a standout. She went on to appear in Altman’s McCabe & Mrs. Miller, Nashville, and 3 Women, earning the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1977.
In 1980, Duvall starred as Wendy Torrance in The Shining, opposite Jack Nicholson. Her portrayal remains one of the most memorable performances in horror film history, emotionally raw, human, and haunting. Later, she became a pioneering producer, creating imaginative children’s programming such as Faerie Tale Theater and Tall Tales & Legends, earning Emmy nominations and critical acclaim.
Duvall passed away in 2024, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, courage, and individuality, all reflected in this remarkable collection.
