Biography: Leopoldo Richter was born in 1896. Leopoldo Richter was an artist with a German heart and a Colombian soul. Richter was a traveler who loved to spend long periods in the Amazon jungle and in the Sierra de la Macarena in Colombia. After fighting in the Second World War and having been a teacher in a German school, Richter decided to travel to Brazil in the mid-30s, to later arrive in Colombia, where he would fall in love with nature and its inhabitants. For this tropical and aboriginal influence, intense colors were born in his work, the expressionist style, the philosophical touches and figurative lines. Subsequently he was eliminating the perspective and began to experiment with different techniques. Over time, his works with themes of indigenous culture, trustworthy to the Colombian culture, began to be known in the Latin American milieu. Leopold Richter passed away in 1984.
