Comments: Nowak was noted for his paintings of musicians, especially Frans Schubert, a composer who has, more than any other musician, fueled the imagination of painters, authors, playwrights and film directors. This is a very rare large canvas of the subject by this artist, perhaps his major work on the artist..

Condition
In generally good condition with the exception of two horizontal tears about four inches from the bottom of the work, the varnish however discolored and aged. This work should clean up well and the colors become more lively.Not examined with blacklight.
