Atelier Friedrich Hartmann (19th century): Portrait of a young man in a suit, C Müller, Carte de Visite, 1885, CDV
Technique: CDV on Albumen paper, mounted on Cardboard
Inscription: Inscribed below with the name of the photo studio "Friedrich Hartmann Basel". On the reverse handwritten inscription "F. Blum, Freiburg, 85/86". The photograph comes from the business card collection of Ferdinand Blum (1865 - 1959), who was director of the Biological Institute in Frankfurt am Main. He researched physiology and endocrinology, especially of the adrenal glands, the pancreas and the thyroid gland. He discovered the blood sugar-increasing effect of adrenalin. In 1939 he fled to Switzerland.
