Property from the Estate of Jean Rolfing Cleland, Wilmette, Illinois
Jean Rolfing began collecting snuff bottles as a teenager in the 1930s. She purchased some for herself; others came from her parents and friends in celebration of holidays, birthdays and other special occasions. The last few bottles were gifts from her late husband, Robert A. Cleland, whom she married in 1945. The snuff bottle collection, housed in a beautiful display case, graced the living room of their home for more than a half century.
