Communicating Discoveries of 1806, letters of William Clark, and plagiarized portions of the journals of Jonathan Carver, Patrick Gass and Alexander Mackenzie. The Lester anthology was "first in a long and mostly related series of unauthorized published accounts of the expedition" (Literature of the Lewis and Clark Expedition 4a.1).
