- Lot Description
Tlingit, two finely woven lidded baskets, each featuring natural and dyed elements. Both made with tight construction and complex geometric and figural motifs. One displays a pair of stylized salmon designs on the lid, while the other shows a radiating stepped pattern accented with traces of red dye. The forms are cylindrical with slightly flaring sides, and the lids fit neatly over the rims. Surfaces exhibit rich, aged patina from traditional use and exposure. Ht. 4 ¼, dia. 3 ½, ht. 7, dia. 5 ½ in.
