There is something particularly gratifying about sitting on a northbound train, dropping the hatch of that little grey seat tray and watching the New York skyline grow smaller and smaller. Every city slicker should take advantage of the ease and liberation that comes with leaving behind Manhattan's minutia to seek out the fresh country air that's waiting right around the bend. A three-day weekend is upon us! It's time to get outta town and head for the peaceful pastures along the Hudson River.
If you haven't decided what to do this Memorial Day, we suggest you either call a friend with a set of wheels or purchase an Amtrak or Metro-North Railroad ticket to attend the regions leading high-end craft fair and take a tour of historical architecture and distinguished interior designs.
You've never been to a venue quite like the rustic daydream that is Field + Supply located on the banks of the Hudson River at Hutton Brickyards in Kingston, NY. Started in 2014, the fair first began as a modern take on traditional arts and crafts fairs and quickly evolved into a curated selection of makers from a variety of workshops and studios representing a wide range of talents. Try to keep yourself from drooling when you skim the elegant list of this year's exhibitors.

Just 30 miles up the river from Field + Supply is another fantastic Memorial Day happening that celebrates the diverse and accomplished design community of Hudson, NY. The 2nd Annual Design Hudson event will offer tours of historic homes such as the Bronson House, each with a room that showcases the work of a contemporary local designer; Hudson Hall will host a panel discussion around the theme of the New Hudson River School; and the lively businesses along Warren Street will hosting special events of their own. Hudson is the crème de la crème of small-town antiquing with fine dining to match!
