Approx. .50 caliber, 4.75" octagonal barrel. the top flat of the barrel is marked Nashville, and the breech is inlaid with two silver bands and features a floral pattern engraving. The rear action lock is marked T. Gowdey and features floral engravings, with the nipple bolster having a sunburst engraving. The trigger guard is engraved silver with a pineapple form finial. The curly maple stock has two silver ferrules, a silver forend cap, a wooden ramrod with a silver tip and an engraved silver compartment in the butt. The stock also features German silver escutcheons, and has an iron belt hook/sideplate. The German silver thumbprint has an engraved H. All of the screws on the pistol are engraved.
The iron barrel has a bright and shiny polished patina with some light speckling. The stock has some nicks and dings, along with an old repair around the forend cap and between the trigger guard finial and the rear ferrule. The front ferrule may have been re-soldered at some point. The bore and action are very good.
