.40 caliber, 2.5" round iron barrel with flat top. The breech of the barrel and the upper tang have scroll engravings, as do the rear facing lock and the dolphin form hammer. The derringer features German silver furniture, including a wedge at the forend of the stock, escutcheons, sideplate, flash shield, engraved trigger guard with pineapple finial, teardrop buttplate and shield form thumbprint. The walnut stock has a checkered birds head grip. According to the previous owner, this derringer was made for Tufts
The barrel and upper tang have been cleaned and blued at a later date, as the markings are polished from the top of the barrel, and the bolster has also been cleaned. The stock has some nicks and dings but is in good overall condition. The bore and action are very good.
