American, 1837. Pairpoint is a glass manufacturing company located in Massachusetts. It is one of America’s oldest glass manufacturers, which was established by Deming Jarves. Each Pairpoint glass work is manually blown by the experts at their Massachusetts factory, whether it be an art piece, or hanging fixtures. Pairpoint glassmakers’ expertise, and processes have been passed down from generation to generation. With a history of over 18 decades, the company has a long-standing tradition of crafting exquisite hand-crafted glassware.
Pairpoint specializes in lighting featuring a wide range of embellishments. The majority of the glassware can be characterized as clear, achromatic or pigmented, and etched and/or cut design. A range of items containing added painted ornamentation, such as colored threading and swirls in the glasses, have also been popular among their customers. The firm employed about 1,000 people to work at its peak, however by 1938, just 20 workers remained and their operations had ceased. The firm shut down, only to return the next year with new management. It remained in operation until 1957.
The company's first creative glass product was made of sicilian, commonly referred to as lava glass. Volcanic lava was said to be one of the key components of this gleaming black glass. They also produced pieces from Burmese glass, a transparent glass toned in colors, which became an instant hit. They manufactured an array of items like gas chandeliers, decorative glass art and cut glass lamps, which was revered in the 1800s. Pairpoint home for sale has innovative glassware designs.
