Auction Description

March Antique, Fine Art & Jewelry Auction by Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers
Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers is proud to announce our March antiques and fine art auction taking place Saturday 2nd, 2019 at 12:00. The auction will feature over 400 lots curated from estates and collections across New England with a 150-lot prelude auction at 10:00am with no online or absentee bidding. The main catalog will offer a vast array of furniture, decorative arts, paintings, jewelry, Asian antiques, and modern design. The auction will open with 35 lots of sterling silver, gold, coins, and jewelry highlighted by a fine 14K gold, diamond, and sapphire necklace ($8,000-$12,000). Other virtuous highlights include a rare 14K gold, diamond, and natural pink sapphire cocktail ring, a 6.29ct tanzanite platinum ring, and a selection of six antique gold coins. Of the 417 lots offered over 150 will be fine art including paintings, drawings, watercolors, and multiples highlighted by an oil on canvas Spring landscape painting of apple blossom trees by Ben Austrian (1870-1921). Nineteenth century American artwork is a strong point of the catalog with further highlights including an oil on board landscape painting by Edward Gay (1837-1928), an oil on canvas landscape by Joseph H. Greenwood (1857-1927), and a watercolor on paper seascape by Alfred T. Bircher (1837-1908). Outside of American works European offerings are highlighted by two monumental French impressionist landscapes, one by Felix Raoul Eteve (1902-1965) and Rene Fath (1850-1922). The catalog will also offer an extensive selection of twentieth century modern and contemporary artworks highlighted by a large abstract expressionist oil on Masonite painting by Leonardo Nierman (b.1932). Other modern artwork highlights include a collection on nine paintings by Paul Kostabi (b.1962), six works by expressionist Taro Yamamoto (1919-1994), and a shaped canvas diptych by Jonathan Santlofer (b.1946). These are only a few names out of an extensive selection of artwork. Decorative arts offerings are highlighted by an unusual 19th Century American carved marble fireplace mantel decorated with a frieze of four quadruplet babies and an American primitive green painted octagonal hardware cabinet. Other decorative art highlights include a gilt bronze model of a pheasant by Leon Bureau (1866-1906), a fine French gilt bronze wire enameled cover box, and a Mario Badioli Murano art glass vase after the style of Pablo Picasso (1881-1973). Within the selection of decorative arts will be a collection of over 30 vintage German Art Deco and Modern Radios. Asian arts offerings are highlighted by a Joichi Hoshi (1913-1979) woodblock winter landscape and a large 19th Century Chinese orange Fitzhugh charger. Other Asian Art highlights include a selection of jade and hardstone carvings, seals, snuff bottles, and Japanese and Chinese porcelain. Preview will be available Thursday and Friday from 9:00 to 5:00, doors open day of sale at 8:00am. For more information please visit www.Bruneauandco.com or call us at 401-533-9980. Read more
