CITYarts Rise Together Gala LIVE Art Auction by CITYarts

Proxy Bidding opens: May 24, 2023 8:00am VIA PROXY BID ONLY (see below for how to place your bid).

Proxy Bidding closes: June 13, 2023 at 8:45pm (to be continued in-person)

In Person Bidding: June 14, 2023 from approximately 7:30-8:00pm

All bidding for the Live Auction will be done via proxy bidding.

We will take your bid over the phone, via email, or we can send you a bidding form to fill out and send back to us.

Bidding for the LIVE Auction will close on June 13 at 8:45pm (one day before the Gala) and bidding will finish IN PERSON at the Gala on June 14. If you will not be at the Gala in person, please follow the same process outlined above and a proxy bidder who is at the Gala will bid on your behalf. Please contact us at gala@cityarts.org with any questions.

Shipping Info

Once CITYarts has received payment in full, the buyer shall contact CITYarts to arrange shipping or pick-up. Shipping, handling and insurance charges are the responsibility of the buyer. Buyers in the New York area can make arrangements to have works retrieved from the CITYarts offices or delivered when possible. Please contact gala@cityarts.org for all shipping arrangements. By placing your bids, you accept and acknowledge that we cannot compensate or refund, under any circumstances, for any damage occurring to frames during transit. CITYarts, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and all purchases/donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Terms and Conditions

To be eligible to participate in the live auction all bidders must first register with the auction on Bidsquare. The bidder’s name, address, phone number and email are collected as part of this registration process.

Online bidding for the Live Auction will close June 13th at 8:45pm. Bidding will continue and finish in person at the CITYarts Gala on June 14, 2023 from approximately 7:30-8:00pm. Upon arrival in person, all bidders will be provided with a Gala Journal that will have your paddle number. You may purchase tickets to the CITYarts Rise Together Gala here: https://www.cityarts.org/tickets-2023-rise-together-gala

Only bidders with Journals are allowed to place a bid by raising their Journal. Advance absentee bids registered with the auction coordinator will also be allowed.

The auctioneer is the only party allowed to determine if a bid has been placed. If the auctioneer misses a bid the missed party has no right to have the bid re-instated.

All disputes over matters relating to bidding are referred to the auctioneer who has the final say.

All lots are sold “AS IS” and without recourse and neither CITYarts, Inc. nor its consignor(s) make any warranties or representations, express or implied with respect to such lots. All items are available for examination at CITYarts, Inc. prior to bidding.  All sales are final. There are no exchanges, credits or refunds.

When placing a bid, a bidder is accepting personal liability to pay the purchase price, including the buyer’s premium, all applicable taxes and all other applicable charges. If you are the winning bidder, you will be contacted within 48 hours of the close of the auction.

Some lots in the sale are subject to a reserve, which is the confidential minimum price below which such lot will not be sold. The reserve will not exceed the low estimate of the lot. 

In addition to the hammer price, the buyer agrees to pay CITYarts, Inc. a buyer’s premium added to the final total. The buyer’s premium for all purchases made on Bidsquare is 5%. 

Invoices for items purchased in the Live Auction will be sent via email to the winning bidders at the conclusion of the auction. Payment can be made directly online. Once your paid invoice is verified, you’ll be able to take your items home.

Payment for successful absentee, phone bids and online bids are required within ten business days of the auction (by June 28, 2023). Payment in U.S. dollars must go through Bidsquare. CITYarts, Inc. reserves the right to hold merchandise purchased until the funds have been received.

Once CITYarts has received payment in full, the buyer shall contact CITYarts to arrange shipping or pick-up. Shipping, handling and insurance charges are the responsibility of the buyer.
