Auction Description

Fine Art & Antiques by Simpson Galleries
Simpson Galleries is honored to announce the sale of the life-long art collection of the late Charles and Geri Hooks, owners of Houston’s oldest and most prestigious art gallery, Hooks-Epstein Galleries. When Geri opened the gallery in 1969 she immersed herself into the fiber of Houston’s art world. Beginning with a focus on prints and multiples, she soon expanded to original works of fine art and contemporary sculpture. Charles was one of the original founders of the Houston Art Dealers’ Association and its first president. The couple was very passionate about art education, sharing their extensive library and knowledge with many students in the community. We honor both Charles and Geri with this auction of their remarkable collection. Please join us in passing their tradition of art appreciation to the next generation of collectors. In addition, Simpson Galleries will also offer many original works of art by notable artists such as Leonardo Nierman, Porfirio Salinas, Robert Goodnough, Henry Moore, Charles Schorre, and Fremont Ellis. Other categories include photography, jewelry, rare maps, prints and multiples, furniture, silver, and textiles. Highlights of the auction will be exhibited in our Houston viewing room beginning Thursday, February 3rd, 2022, with a full auction preview in our galleries during the week of February 7th, 2022. Should you wish to secure a reservation to preview please contact us at 713 524-6751 to make an appointment. Read more
