Auction Description

Spring Sprung Auction by Wolfs Gallery
Unanticipated receipt of a unique estate and preparation for our "Cleveland School" Exhibition this July has prompted this exciting auction. The estate is comprised of art, antique furniture and decorative arts from Brittan, Europe and Asia, and will be augmented by a small collection of 20th century American paintings, which will round out this online only sale. American paintings include a terrific circus scene by gifted artist and Saturday Evening Post illustrator Henry James Soulen (American, 1888-1965) and an early 20th century eye popping impressionist landscape by Henry MacGinnis (American, 1875–1962). Examples of rare Chinese embroidery include an intricate monumental, 19th century stitched composition of exotic birds within a plush landscape of pulsating flora and fauna reaching 15 feet in length. Other quite interesting decorative arts include the most graceful large Portuguese silver swan by Luiz Ferreira (Portuguese, 1909–1994) Within the grouping of Continental and British furniture is a superb early Italian walnut side table and various English bachelors chests, game tables and early cabinets. The body of the collection is extremely eclectic and interesting with even the least expensive works having charm and pizzazz. A catalogue in progress for this online only sale will be posted on May 4, 2018 and can be viewed online at www.wolfsgallery.com as well as on LiveAuctioneers and Bidquare. WOLFS will take proxy bids and telephone bids through Friday, May 11th. Telephone bidding is only available for items estimated over $2,000 The auction will close on Saturday May 12, 2018. Auction Preview: Friday May 4th and Saturday May 5th from 11-5pm. Tuesday May 8th – Friday May 11th from 11-5pm.
